Will Lankshear and Rio Kyerematen have been shortlisted for the April Premier League 2 Player of the Month award.

Beginning with Will, it is the third time in five months that the forward has been in the running for the monthly prize as, much like the squad as a whole, the forward has enjoyed an incredible campaign in the development competition.

With 18 goals in 19 appearances in the league this term, five of them came in as many games during the month of May with strikes against Reading, Wolves and Manchester United before a brace at Fulham last Friday.

The top scorer in the league with his tally of 18, the forward won the February edition of the prize earlier this year having found the back of the net five times in just two outings.

Rio, meanwhile, is nominated for the award for the first time after he impressed when deputising at full-back in April.

An attacking midfielder by trade, the England youth international was tested at left-back in our home clash with Wolves at the start of the month and he excelled. Constantly a threat on the flanks, he popped up with a goal and an assist at the Lamex Stadium as we ran out 5-1 winners.

He performed the same role next time out as we earned a 2-2 draw at home to Manchester United before he switched wings for our trip to Fulham, where he provided an assist in a 2-0 win which secured us top spot in the Premier League 2 league phase.

With the nominations of Will and Rio for April's award, the squad now have seen nine instances of players being shortlisted for the prize this season alone - Yago Santiago (August and October), Jamie Donley (August and October), Alfie Dorrington (September), Will Lankshear (November, January and April) and Rio Kyerematen (April). Jamie winning the prize in October while Will took the honour in February.

This month, Will and Rio will face competition for the award from Arsenal's Amario Cozier-Duberry, helsea's Dujuan Richards, Newcastle's Alfie Harrison, Reading's Adrian Akande and Nottingham Forest duo Aaron Bott  and Jack Thompson.

The nominees were selected by the Premier League Football Development Panel after club coaches proposed the best performances by opposing players throughout last month. The panel will also decide the winner.
